Natcha led the Nonthaburi People's Party MPs to file a complaint with the Election Commission to penalize those producing AI videos smearing Decharat, the candidate for Nonthaburi Provincial Governor, condemning the attack as an unsportsmanlike low blow that strikes below the belt.
On 24 August 2026 at the Election Commission office, Natcha Boonchaiinsawat, a party-list MP, along with Nonthaburi MPs from the People's Party, submitted a complaint to the Election Commission. They requested oversight of the Nonthaburi Provincial Governor election campaign after discovering AI-generated videos and false information on social media aimed at misleading and discrediting Decharat Sukkamnerd, the People's Party candidate number 4.
Natcha stated that AI clips attacking Decharat have been produced continuously. The creators, knowledgeable about the law, avoid directly naming the People's Party. Instead, they use ambiguous content such as symbols resembling the former Move Forward Party logo, the color orange, and candidate number 4 to deliberately mislead the public into associating the attacks with the party. She urged the Election Commission to supervise and regulate the increasingly intense election competition in Nonthaburi.
She added that the party's legal team plans to pursue legal action against those who posted and shared the content. They have identified the original poster but are still investigating whether any individuals or political groups are behind the campaign. Some accounts spreading the content have a history of attacking the People's Party. The party intends to take legal action against all channels and accounts involved in disseminating defamatory campaign content.
Examples of fake news include allegations that the People's Party intends to cancel the 30-baht universal healthcare policy or withdraw education support in the area. The party firmly denied these claims, stating no such plans exist. Decharat has consistently affirmed that beneficial existing provincial policies will continue regardless of leadership changes, especially education support, which will maintain current budgets and increase funding in several areas.
"When opponents can't solve the issues fairly, they resort to creating AI clips. They don't fight in the arena but strike below the belt, off the field, spreading fake news and using AI-generated content in political battles. Those behind this and those who commit these acts behave very unsportingly in the current Nonthaburi contest," Natcha said.
Natcha concluded by expressing the People's Party's high hopes for this election and their aim to make Nonthaburi a model of local governance. They have nominated Decharat Sukkamnerd, the party's policy center director, as candidate number 4 for provincial governor. She urged the people of Nonthaburi to closely monitor the situation and to vote on 20 September.
