Ratchada, the government spokesperson, stated that Prime Minister Anutin is advancing proactive diplomacy to bring Thailand back onto the global radar, attract investment, open new markets, and is prepared to explain achievements to parliament and face the no-confidence debate.
At 09:30 on 24 Aug 2026 at the Media Room 1 in front of Naree Samosorn Building, Government House, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, revealed that with the parliament’s upcoming session and expected no-confidence debate, the government is ready to explain to parliament and the public with factual and verifiable results. Particularly, the government's foreign policy achievements under Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who has employed proactive diplomacy to restore Thailand’s global standing. He has elevated strong relationships into opportunities in trade, investment, technology, security, and employment.
Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has officially visited nine countries and attended regional meetings, holding talks with leaders from the Philippines, France, Russia, Vietnam, Malaysia, China, Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand. He has also welcomed foreign leaders visiting Thailand, including Mr. To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Mr. Min Aung Hlaing, President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar; and next week, Mr. Lawrence Wong, Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore, visiting on 2 Sep 2026. All these missions align strategically with the global disorder and climate change challenges, aiming to strengthen ASEAN, promote regional cooperation, and enhance economic resilience by expanding markets, attracting investment, and fostering innovation.
Regarding investment promotion, during the Prime Minister’s visits abroad, discussions with foreign investors took place, alongside business matchmaking between Thai and foreign investors. The Prime Minister has assigned the Board of Investment (BOI) to continuously follow up to ensure actual investments materialize.
Moreover, the Prime Minister has sought support for Thailand’s accession to the OECD by 2028, while reiterating Thailand’s commitment to peaceful methods, negotiation, international law, and alliances in security and combating transnational crime.
Following the recent visit to Australia, the Prime Minister has continued to develop a strategic partnership in future industries, innovation, and education, while enhancing cooperation to combat transnational crime, call center gangs, and cyber threats.
Additionally, the Prime Minister held talks with Canva, a global design platform, to promote the creative economy by connecting Thai creators and SMEs to international markets.
Meanwhile, Thailand and New Zealand have elevated their relationship to a “strategic partnership” aiming to triple trade value to $7.5 billion by 2045. Plans include launching direct flights between Bangkok and Auckland in 2027 and inviting leading private sector investors such as Skyline Enterprises in tourism and recreation and T&G Global in agriculture and food, supporting Thailand as a regional distribution hub.
Proactive diplomacy is also demonstrated by hosting foreign leaders, an opportunity to deepen top-level relations and set cooperation directions. Previously, the Prime Minister welcomed Mr. To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on 28 May 2026; Mr. Min Aung Hlaing, President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, on 6 Aug 2026; and is preparing to welcome Mr. Lawrence Wong, Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore, officially visiting on 2 Sep 2026. This reflects Thailand’s role as a key regional driver of cooperation and the confidence of allied countries in Thailand.
