The Cabinet resolved to appoint Chatichai Bangchuad, from Secretary-General of the National Security Council, as the new Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office, replacing Yupha Taweewattanakitbawon who will retire this year. Chatichai has one year remaining before his civil service retirement.
On 25 August 2026, a report from the Government House stated that at today's Cabinet meeting, the Cabinet approved the appointment of Mr. Chatichai Bangchuad, Secretary-General of the National Security Council, to serve as Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office. He will replace Ms. Yupha Taweewattanakitbawon, the current Permanent Secretary, who is set to retire on 30 September this year.
Mr. Chatichai was appointed Secretary-General of the National Security Council in 2024 and currently has one year left in his civil service career, with retirement scheduled for 2027.
