
The Cabinet meeting resolved to appoint Kittipon Ruensamrit as the new director of the National Intelligence Agency after the current director is set to retire on 30 September.
On 25 August 2026, reporters at the Government House reported that the Cabinet resolved to appoint Mr. Kittipon Ruensamrit who is the deputy director of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) to serve as the new director of the National Intelligence Agency. This replaces Mr. Thanat Suwannanon, the current director of the National Intelligence Agency, who will retire from government service on 30 September.
However, although Mr. Thanat will retire from government service, he will continue to serve as the head of the peace negotiation team for the southern border provinces.
