The Cabinet approved a major reshuffle in the Ministry of Interior, promoting the Governor of Buriram to Director-General of the Department of Local Administration, while "Sembe" rose to become Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation. Meanwhile, "Teerut" left the DLA director-general post to become a ministry inspector, with deputy permanent secretaries promoted to governors and multiple provincial posts exchanged.
On 25 August 2026, reporters learned that the Cabinet agreed to transfer 20 senior officials within the Ministry of Interior. The reshuffle involved key positions including deputy permanent secretaries, director-generals, ministry inspectors, and provincial governors, effective from 1 October 2026.
Among the positions attracting attention, Mr. Piya Pichnam, Governor of Buriram, was proposed to be relieved from his governor position and appointed as Director-General of the Department of Local Administration (DLA). Meanwhile, Mr. Teerut Supaviboonpol, the former Director-General of the Department of Local Administration, was proposed to be relieved from his post and transferred to serve as a ministry inspector at the Ministry of Interior.
Another key position, Mr. Nirath Pongsitthaworn, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, was proposed to be promoted to Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM). Meanwhile, Mr. Teerapat Kachamat, Director-General of the DDPM, was transferred to become Director-General of the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning.
Regarding the deputy permanent secretary level reshuffle, four provincial governors were nominated to fill these positions, including

Mr. Ratphon Naradisorn, Governor of Chiang Mai,
Mr. Anupong Suksamanit, Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima,
and Ms. Arocha Nantamontri, Governor of Nakhon Pathom.
Notable governor transfers include
Mr. Natthapong Sanguanjit, Governor of Suphanburi, who was moved to become Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima.
Mr. Chaiwat Chuenkosum, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, was transferred to be Governor of Udon Thani.
Mr. Thotphon Phueanodom, a ministry inspector, was promoted to Governor of Chiang Mai.
Additionally, several governors were swapped among provinces including
Mr. Monsit Paisalthanawat, Governor of Chanthaburi, who became Governor of Chachoengsao.
Ms. Chatpraorn Niyom, Governor of Chachoengsao, was appointed Governor of Trat.
Mr. Aekwit Meepian, Governor of Pathum Thani, was assigned Governor of Buriram.
Mr. Chumpit Decharat, Governor of Maha Sarakham, was transferred to become Governor of Nakhon Sawan.
