On 25 Aug 2026 GMT+7 at the Parliament, Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, party-list MP and leader of the People’s Party, spoke about the Supreme Court scheduling a hearing for the case of 44 former Move Forward MPs who jointly submitted a proposal to amend Criminal Code Section 112.What is the overall plan?Overall, nothing has changed. I want to reaffirm our innocence. We have only exercised our duties as MPs. Regarding the case details, Dr. Vayo Aswarungroj, party-list MP and deputy leader of the People’s Party, who is in charge of the party’s legal affairs, has already handled everything thoroughly. I have no additional comments and want to focus on our work in this parliamentary session.
When asked if there is new evidence to present in court, Nattapong said that most evidence was prepared from the start. He does not see any significant new points. From the beginning, we did not consider the amendment proposal a wrongdoing in exercising MPs’ authority. We want people to see that our goal is a democratic country where MPs perform their duties fully. Meanwhile, political mechanisms, the constitution, independent agencies, and legal systems are being used as political weapons to target rivals.
“Those in power are using these mechanisms to destroy their political opponents. If people see this problem clearly,it aligns with our view.In this session, the People’s Party plans to push constitutional amendments, political party law reforms, and other issues, including investigating the Senate election fraud case. We encourage everyone to watch closely and support these efforts,” Nattapong said.
When asked if he is confident in legally carrying out oversight duties, Nattapong said he is confident because the core case facts remain unchanged. He believes in the integrity of their exercise of MPs’ authority since the first day the amendment proposal was submitted. Therefore, he remains focused on the main agendas the party aims to advance in this session.
