U.S. Warship Visits Thailand Within Normal Framework, Not Taking Sides Emphasizes Thailand Is Not Part of the Conflict

The government clarified that the U.S. warship's visit to Thailand is a routine port call under existing cooperation frameworks. It emphasized that Thailand is not taking sides nor becoming part of any conflict but is choosing to create opportunities that benefit the Thai people.

26 Aug 2026 GMT+7 Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, commented on social media interpretations that the scheduled visit of the U.S. aircraft carrier to Thailand in early September indicates Thailand taking sides. Ms. Ratchada said, the port call is a routine visit under the ongoing defense cooperation framework between Thailand and the United States, and it is unrelated to Thailand expressing a position or taking sides in any conflict situation.

Thailand continues to adhere to a balanced foreign policy, maintaining good relations with all countries and prioritizing peace and stability in the region.

“Please do not interpret the aircraft carrier’s port call as Thailand taking a position or choosing sides in any conflict. The government’s foreign relations approach is clear: we do not take sides but seek to create beneficial opportunities for the Thai people through these relationships. We are a trusted international ally, cooperating based on Thailand’s interests without exploiting others. We do not become part of conflicts while supporting peace in all areas.”
