The government is preparing to hold the royal cremation ceremony for Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Thepiyawadi, Princess Rajasarinisirinpatchar Mahavajraratchathida, with full royal honors.
On 26 August 2026 at 1:30 p.m., at Santi Maitri Building (inner rear), Government House, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul chaired the first meeting of the organizing committee for the royal cremation ceremony of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Thepiyawadi, Princess Rajasarinisirinpatchar Mahavajraratchathida. The meeting was attended by Sopon Sarum, President of the National Assembly, Deputy Prime Ministers, ministers, and relevant agencies.
Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the Prime Minister informed the meeting that since Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Thepiyawadi passed away on Thursday, 11 June 2026, His Majesty the King graciously ordered the Royal Household Bureau to manage the funeral, with the body laid in state at Phiman Rattaya Throne Hall. After the 15-day royal merit-making ceremonies, the public was allowed to pay respects to the body. Following the completion of the 100-day royal merit-making ceremonies, members of the royal family, privy councilors, government officials, agencies, state enterprises, private sector, and the general public were invited to jointly sponsor the Buddhist funeral rites.
The government received royal permission to be the host for the Buddhist funeral rites on Monday, 21 September 2026, at 7:00 p.m. It also requested royal permission to organize the royal cremation ceremony and to invite His Majesty the King to serve as the advisor for the event, which was graciously granted. This is an immeasurable royal kindness.
At today's first meeting, the Prime Minister asked the committee members and attendees to observe a one-minute moment of silence to honor the royal grace and express loyalty. The meeting approved key preparation plans including construction of the crematorium and related structures, restoration of royal vehicles and ceremonial items, organization of the public flower offering ceremony, reception of the royal cremation urn, celebratory performances, exhibitions, and creation of commemorative pins for the royal cremation ceremony.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul emphasized that the committee and all related agencies must work with dedication and determination to ensure the royal cremation ceremony proceeds smoothly and with the highest honor.
