The Prime Minister supports the younger generation in expressing Thai identity, presenting awards for the "Proud Thai" short film contest.
On 26 August 2026, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul chaired the award ceremony for the "Proud Thai" Short Film Contest at Santimaitri Building, joined by Yupha Taweewattanakitboworn, Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office, leading film directors, and esteemed experts.
Yupha Taweewattanakitboworn, Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office, reported that the project was organized to provide youth, university students, and college students a platform to creatively present Thai arts, culture, and lifestyles, while elevating the new generation in the film industry. This year, 79 youth teams nationwide submitted entries, with 15 teams selected to join a workshop. Each selected team received 20,000 baht production funding and guidance from experts and renowned directors such as Pratchya Pinkaeo, Adirek Wattaleela, and Bandit Thongdee.
The awards presented include the grand prize winner receiving a 100,000-baht scholarship, trophy, and certificate; first runner-up awarded 70,000 baht with trophy and certificate; second runner-up granted 50,000 baht with trophy and certificate; and two consolation prizes each receiving 30,000 baht along with trophies and certificates.
The five awarded teams will participate in an intensive Bootcamp to further develop their films before entering international contests in late September 2026, aiming to promote Thai soft power and cultural identity for global recognition.
