Attawit Suwanpakdee has submitted two draft laws on industrial waste and palm oil to support a 200 billion baht loan for the green energy transition, covering electronic waste, circuit boards, batteries, and electric vehicle wreckage (EV).
On 26 August 2026, Attawit Suwanpakdee, MP of the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party, spoke about the 400 billion baht borrowing bill under consideration by the House of Representatives. He said that 200 billion baht of this amount is designated for the transition to alternative energy, making it essential to have corresponding legislation to ensure the funds are used purposefully.
Attawit stated that he has proposed two draft laws: the Industrial Waste Management Bill to establish comprehensive legislation for industrial waste management in Thailand, covering electronic waste, circuit boards, batteries, and electric vehicle (EV) wreckage from production through disposal.
The Palm Oil Industry Promotion Bill aims to address impacts from the Fuel Oil Fund Act, which bans subsidies on biofuel-blended fuel prices starting 24 September 2026. This could affect about one-third of the country’s palm oil prices, necessitating specific legislation to protect the public. The bill proposes creating an office similar to the Sugarcane and Sugar Office under the Ministry of Industry, ensuring farmers earn income both from selling palm fruit and from processed palm oil products.
