Atthit Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Interior, and Phasakorn Boonlak, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Interior, received the Royal Decoration "The Boy Scout Citation Medal (Special Class)."
At 14:00 on 25 August 2026, His Majesty the King graciously appointed Mr. Plakorn Suwanrath, Privy Councillor, as his representative to preside over the royal decoration ceremony. The ceremony was for awarding "The Boy Scout Citation Medal (Special Class)." Also awarded were the first-class Boy Scout Citation Medals for the year 2024. The National Scout Executive Committee selected eligible administrators and personnel who met the criteria and were deemed worthy of the Special Class Medal—18 recipients—and 283 recipients of the first-class medal, totaling 301 awardees as published in the Royal Gazette, Vol. 143, Part 39 Kor, dated 18 June 2026.
On this occasion, Mr. Atthit Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Interior, and Mr. Phasakorn Boonlak, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Interior and head of the internal security mission group, received the Special Class Boy Scout Citation Medal. They were recognized for their continuous contributions to Boy Scout activities, having previously received the first-class Boy Scout Citation Medal and sustained their support for at least five years thereafter. Notably, in their roles as provincial governors—chairpersons of provincial scout committees and deputy chairs of the National Scout Executive Committee—they demonstrated loyalty to the nation, religion, and monarchy, helped others at all times, and adhered to scout principles. Their service has benefited Thai scouting and inspired ongoing dedication to developing scouting for children, youth, society, and the nation.
The Boy Scout Citation Medal (Special Class) is a Thai royal decoration ranked 29th in order of precedence. It was established by royal permission granted by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great in 1987 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Thai Boy Scout movement by King Rama VI in 1911 and to honor the King's 60th birthday on 5 December 1987. It also serves to encourage and recognize those devoted to scouting.
The Special Class Boy Scout Citation Medal is a single-class decoration awarded as a royal honor for outstanding service in government related to scouting. Designed by Mr. Pinij Suwannabun, its front is an oval shape with blue enamel, measuring 2.5 cm wide by 3.3 cm long. The center features a silver tiger head encircled by golden egg-shaped beads, surrounded by an eight-pointed silver star with gold rays. Above is a delicate royal crown and the golden number 9. The back center is a purple enamel hub bearing the World Scout emblem. Below is silver lettering reading, “We will continue to uphold the Boy Scout movement.” The upper edge has a suspension loop for a 4 cm wide neck ribbon striped yellow in the center, flanked by 3 mm white and 6 mm black stripes.
The medal is worn suspended from the neck ribbon by both men and women alike. When worn with full or half dress uniforms, the ribbon passes under the shirt collar and over the tie knot, with the medal resting at the knot's height. When worn with scout uniforms, the ribbon passes beneath the neckerchief.
