Yotsanan Monitors Flood Recovery, Encourages Villagers, and Provides New House Designs

Yotsanan visited Nan province to monitor flood and landslide recovery, speaking in the Northern Thai dialect to encourage villagers and presenting new house designs to those whose homes were swept away by floodwaters.

On 26 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Yotsanan Wongsawat, who also chairs the Northern Region Flood and Drought Prevention and Solution Committee, led senior officials on the second day of field visits to monitor recovery efforts for flood and landslide victims in Nan province. They visited Hia Village on foot, inspecting recovery progress which had reached over 70%. Yotsanan spoke warmly in the local Northern dialect to encourage residents, including 78-year-old Ta Jai Ummee, who appeared in a previous clip shoveling mud. He reassured that government and local agencies were working intensively to restore normal life as quickly as possible.

The Deputy Prime Minister also visited the bridge over the Khun River to meet Pa Kahlong, a flood victim whose home was completely washed away. He presented a 3D model of an elevated house design alongside the Nan governor, announcing that budgets from both the province and the Prime Minister’s Office would be allocated to build new, safe homes. This moved Pa Kahlong to tears, prompting her to raise her hands in gratitude.

Additionally, Yotsanan instructed provincial and local officials to expedite the removal of debris and logs from waterways and to repair connecting roads promptly. He then traveled to Fai Village, where cleanup was over 80% complete, to develop long-term flood prevention plans with community leaders. He also visited the Fix It Center at Rong Village, Woranakhon Subdistrict, Pua District, a joint initiative between Uttaradit Technical College and the Department of Skill Development to provide repair services for electrical appliances and motorcycles, easing hardships for residents.
