“Juree” Urges Swift Transfer of Tha Sae-Ban Han Road in Songkhla to Department of Rural Roads

Juree urges the government to expedite the transfer of the Tha Sae-Ban Han road under Khlong U Taphao SAO to the Department of Rural Roads, pointing out a lack of development budget and calling on the Road Maintenance Committee to hold prompt meetings to conclude the matter.

On 27 Aug 2026 GMT+7 at the parliament during a House of Representatives session, Juree Numkaew, MP for Songkhla's 2nd district from the Democrat Party, raised the issue of transferring infrastructure responsibilities in the area. He said that during the recent parliamentary recess, officials from Khlong U Taphao Subdistrict Administrative Organization in Hat Yai district, Songkhla province, requested his assistance in expediting the transfer of the approximately 3-kilometer Tha Sae-Ban Han road, currently managed by the SAO, to the Department of Rural Roads or another better-equipped agency.

Juree explained that this road was transferred to local authorities about 20 years ago under decentralization policies. However, the urban context has changed, making the road a major route with heavy public use. The SAO, constrained by limited budget capacity, cannot expand lanes or upgrade the road to accommodate traffic. Although the transfer has been approved at the provincial and departmental levels, it remains stalled at the subcommittee managing road construction and maintenance because meetings have not been held, leaving the transfer unresolved and the road undeveloped.

"Therefore, I ask the Speaker to convey to the Prime Minister, as overseer of the Ministry of Interior, the Department of Rural Roads, and the relevant subcommittee to urgently complete the transfer process. This will pave the way for road improvements to enhance capacity, welfare, and safety for the traveling public," Juree said.
