At 09:00 on 27 Aug 2026 GMT+7 at the Parliament, Senator Phisit Apiwatnapong held a press conference regarding the leaked investigation report on the senator collusion case. He said that over recent weeks, Mr. Parit Wacharasindhu, a party-list MP from the People's Party, and Mr. Yingcheep Achjananont, director of the Internet for Law Project (iLaw), have been releasing information about the senator case. He questioned the accuracy of the data and whether the disclosed personal information was protected under the law. He asked how they could be certain the information was factual and not fabricated. He noted that much of it involves personal data and that public dissemination could violate the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). If the information is false, the publication risks criminal charges for introducing false data into a computer system and defamation. He demanded that Mr. Parit and Mr. Yingcheep clarify whether their disclosed information is credible, accurate, and properly sourced.
He added that releasing information to the public before the legal process is complete risks breaching the confidentiality of the investigation and interfering with justice. He questioned why the legal process was not allowed to conclude first. Furthermore, the Election Commission (EC) is conducting multiple investigations—specifically, the 26th and 36th subcommittees—which have differing opinions. He asked how they could verify the accuracy of both sets of information and whether there were any hidden political motives. He accused the two individuals of attempting to pressure independent organizations and acting as vigilantes conducting a witch hunt on online platforms, prejudging the senators. He questioned if their intent was to benefit any particular group.
Meanwhile, Police Colonel Kob Achanakit, a senator, asked whether the actions by Mr. Parit and Mr. Yingcheep are interfering with the case and causing public confusion and unrest. He urged the media and the public to consume information with fairness and caution, advising not to mistake the wheel's spokes for lotus petals (a Thai idiom meaning not to misinterpret things).
Pol. Maj. Gen. Chatwatt Saengphet, a senator, addressed rumors that senators gathered for a meal on 26 Aug 2026 GMT+7 at a restaurant near Rama 7 to celebrate escaping the collusion case. He said this was a misunderstanding. The meeting was merely the committee attending to staff matters. He advised confirming facts from the staff directly and said it had nothing to do with the collusion case. He added they simply wanted to eat together and that they can enjoy themselves any day without needing a reason to celebrate. "We have our own happiness," he said.
