On 27 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Watcharapong Kuwijitsuwan, Chairman of the Police Committee of the House of Representatives and MP for Saraburi from the Bhumjaithai Party, responded to the National Human Rights Commission's (NHRC) statement opposing Justice Minister Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruthapol Nawarath's remarks concerning the criminal record of a family member of Mr. Patpong Supakorn, known as “Lawyer Aun Buriram,” who has been active in investigating the Khao Kradong land case, viewing such remarks as undermining legitimacy.
Mr. Watcharapong confirmed that the Justice Minister’s caution was not meant to belittle anyone but to remind society to carefully assess the credibility and background of informants before believing claims, to ensure investigations proceed constructively and based on facts.
The Police Committee Chairman added that Lawyer Aun has frequently faced questions about his sincerity, including using information to attack opponents, employing impolite language publicly, and persistently submitting complaints on high-profile cases, which has been seen as seeking attention, building personal reputation, and causing inconvenience to government agencies. Furthermore, his provocative posts and interviews have led to multiple defamation lawsuits, raising suspicions of a hidden political agenda using discrediting tactics to pave the way into politics rather than pursuing justice.
Mr. Watcharapong concluded by stating that he believes the Justice Minister’s comments were merely an indirect warning, not a rejection of government scrutiny, but a call for proper, fact-based investigative processes—not motivated by likes, social media trends, or as tools for personal destruction.
