Prime Minister Anutin exclaimed “Really?” after Cambodia threatened to issue an arrest warrant over his visit to Chong An Ma, affirming that he acted according to the law.
On 27 August 2026, Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul spoke about Cambodia's statement that it plans to press charges and issue an arrest warrant against him for alleged territorial intrusion during his visit to inspect Chong An Ma in Ubon Ratchathani province on 23 August. The Prime Minister responded with surprise, saying, “Really? How should I respond? I acted according to the law and hold the Joint Statement signed by the leaders of both countries.”
Regarding Cambodia's dissatisfaction with the Prime Minister's border security inspection, Anutin emphasized that he adhered strictly to the Joint Statement, which clearly states that each side should remain in their own area. He added that if Cambodia also abides by the Joint Statement, it would lead to joint discussions. However, if Cambodia does not comply, he is unsure how discussions could proceed.
