On 27 Aug 2026 GMT+7, General Chaipruk Duangprapat, Army Chief of Staff, visited Sattahip District, Chonburi Province, to observe the Special Operations Fleet training with the Prime Minister. Reporters asked about reports that he was being approached to become the Secretary of the National Security Council (NSC). General Chaipruk said it might not be appropriate to discuss this as he was there in his capacity as Army Chief of Staff but affirmed that wherever he is assigned, he is ready to work and will do his best regardless of the role.
"Whatever the matter or task assigned by my superiors, performing my duties is always a source of pride," he said.
When asked about the prospect of taking on the NSC role, which seems to involve a heavy workload, General Chaipruk replied, "We will keep fighting." Regarding whether intelligence needs improvement, he said, "Not yet, I’m not in the position yet, so please be patient."
