On 27 August 2026, Mr. Nirun Pongsithithaworn, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior and acting Director-General of the Department of Local Administration (DLA), spoke about progress in revoking the names of 5,925 individuals who cheated on local exams. He said that the Central Committee for Local Personnel Management (Central Committee) in nearly all 76 provinces has met and begun instructing provincial administrative organizations, subdistrict administrative organizations, and municipalities to issue revocation orders. Follow-ups have found no problems or lawsuits filed in return. All parties understand the situation when reviewing clear documents and score evidence. He confirmed the entire process will be completed by 31 August without fail.
Mr. Nirun explained the criminal prosecution process must be clearly separated. The DLA is responsible for managing the personnel list, removing those whose scores do not qualify. Those who passed legitimately will be supported and appointed to civil service posts. Criminal cases fall under the jurisdiction of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) and police, with the DLA providing additional data and evidence. He assured that no part of the process is being neglected.
Regarding the adjustment of personnel lists and assignment of positions for those who passed correctly, Mr. Nirun said the recent Central Committee meeting confirmed that rightful appointees will not be affected. Vacant positions resulting from revoked names will be filled in order and according to actual vacancies by legal officers of the Central Committee. Any new proposals will be brought to the committee for further consideration. He reaffirmed that all eligible individuals will be appointed according to their rights.
