The government spokesperson explained that the new deportation regulation takes effect on 28 August. It coordinates four main agencies to integrate information on foreign offenders and ensure their return within 30 days.
On 28 August 2026, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, announced the enforcement of the "Prime Minister's Office Regulation on Deportation B.E. 2569 (2026)," effective from 28 August 2026 onwards. She stated that this regulation was established to clearly, swiftly, and efficiently define guidelines and administrative procedures for relevant agencies, closing previous gaps in inter-agency coordination.
The spokesperson stated that the regulation sets the framework for prosecuting foreigners subject to deportation under six categories: entering or residing in the kingdom illegally; working without legal authorization; conducting business unlawfully; forging or using forged official documents; committing offenses punishable by imprisonment of three years or more; and being the principal, user, or supporter of offenses under the first five categories.
Ms. Ratchada added that the relevant agencies—Ministry of Interior, Royal Thai Police, Immigration Bureau, and Ministry of Tourism and Sports—are responding to the directives of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to integrate data for managing foreign offenders, including foreign tourists who behave inappropriately, cause disturbances, or disrespect Thai laws and culture.
Regarding the repatriation process, information will be coordinated in advance before release from prison to prepare for deportation. If the deportee lacks travel funds, the government will consider budget support according to the Ministry of Interior regulation approved by the Ministry of Finance. The return must be completed within 30 days from the deportation order date to reduce detention time and government care expenses, prioritizing public order and safety.
