The government informs victims of the Khlong Thom Center fire that they can now prepare documents and register to receive assistance. Supamas sends support to fellow traders and warns the public to beware of fraudsters posing as donation collectors.
On 29 August 2026, Ms. Lalida Pertviwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, announced that the government invites traders and business operators affected by the fire at Khlong Thom Center on Worachak Road, Pom Prap Sattru Phai District, on the evening of 28 August 2026, to register as victims to receive government aid. The Pom Prap Sattru Phai District Office has set up registration points, established procedures and required documents to collect damage information and proceed with assistance for those affected.
Regarding documents required for submitting claims related to the Khlong Thom Center fire, Victims should prepare supporting documents including a copy of their ID card, lease agreement, and a police report specifying detailed damage for each case, along with photos documenting the damage, to support consideration for assistance.
The Deputy Government Spokesperson added that after submitting claims, the Pom Prap Sattru Phai District Office will issue a victim certification letter to registrants and schedule appointments for them to receive aid funds at the district office. Those affected are urged to prepare complete documentation and continuously follow updates from the district office and government agencies.
“The government is concerned for traders and business operators affected, as the fire damage impacts not only property but also livelihoods and income. Therefore, victims are urged to promptly register and prepare complete damage evidence so agencies can verify information and provide assistance quickly.”
According to the latest situation report from Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, the fire was extinguished at 05:32 on 29 August 2026. There were no fatalities reported. The Erawan Medical Center of Bangkok’s Medical Department reported 11 injured persons who have been transported to medical facilities for treatment.
Ms. Lalida further said that Ms. Supamas Isarapakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office and overseer of the Public Relations Department, has instructed the department to continuously monitor and disseminate necessary information to the public, especially regarding registration, aid procedures, contact points, required documents, and additional relief measures announced by relevant agencies, to ensure victims can access government assistance conveniently and quickly.
Meanwhile, Mr. Jeset Thaiset, Deputy Minister of Interior, visited the site to monitor the situation alongside related agencies. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has supported with lighting trains, air compressors, machinery, equipment, and personnel to assist Bangkok’s operations and ensure the safety of officials and the public in the area.
However, during the aid period, the public is advised to be cautious of fake pages, fake accounts, or fraudulent claims soliciting donations. People should verify names of individuals, organizations, bank account holders, and the purpose of donations before transferring money, and refrain from sharing unverified damage information not confirmed by responsible agencies.
“Victims are urged to follow aid information primarily from the Pom Prap Sattru Phai District Office, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, and official government channels. Those wishing to help victims should verify donation sources and accounts every time to prevent scammers from exploiting the public’s hardship.”
Ms. Supamas stated that the public should always verify the names of individuals, organizations, bank account holders, and donation purposes before transferring money. Do not be deceived simply by images or urgent messages prompting donations. If the owner of the account or the donation source cannot be confirmed, do not share or transfer money. Do not allow scammers to worsen the victims’ suffering.
She also requested all media outlets and platforms to report the incident with caution, referencing information only from directly responsible agencies, refrain from speculating on fire causes before official investigations, and avoid publishing images that infringe on the rights, dignity, and privacy of the injured.

I thank Mr. Jeset Thaiset, Deputy Minister of Interior, firefighters, volunteers, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, and all agencies dedicated throughout the night. For those injured while on duty, I wish you a speedy recovery. I have instructed the Public Relations Department to gather and disseminate aid information as soon as responsible agencies announce it, so affected people can be informed and access assistance as quickly as possible.”
