Deputy Interior Minister Orders Disaster Declaration and Relief Registration for Khlong Thom Fire

Deputy Interior Minister Je Seth has ordered the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation to declare a disaster zone for the Khlong Thom Center fire, establish registration points, and swiftly inject relief funds to ensure the affected people receive full and rapid assistance.


29 Aug 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Je Seth Thaiset, Deputy Minister of the Interior (MoI 3) monitored the relief efforts for residents affected by the Khlong Thom Center fire on Char Chakkraphat Road, Pom Prap subdistrict, Pom Prap Sattru Phai district, Bangkok. The fire occurred on the night of 28 August, damaging about 4 rai of area, injuring 11 people, with no fatalities reported.

Today, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation officially declared an emergency disaster relief zone due to the fire and established a “Fire Disaster Victim Registration Center” to facilitate affected residents in submitting aid requests. Officials will accept applications, verify victim information, and collect damage documentation to support consideration for financial assistance according to established criteria.


For registration, affected residents can submit applications and report damage details to officials so related agencies can inspect and assess damages to housing, property, and livelihoods, then compile data to expedite aid delivery.

Regarding assistance, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration will provide initial aid according to entitlements such as living costs, rental fees, medical expenses, and livelihood equipment. Meanwhile, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation will support repair costs for damaged permanent residences, reimbursing actual expenses up to 88,600 baht per household.

Mr. Je Seth said he has urged all agencies to quickly survey damages, process applications, and verify documents to ensure rapid, comprehensive, and inclusive aid. He emphasized caring for affected people to help them resume normal life and work as soon as possible.

“The Ministry of Interior cares deeply for the people. The government is ready to support and assist all sectors. We will expedite every step so that people receive full and prompt assistance,” he added.
