On 30 Aug 2026 GMT+7, the Suan Dusit Poll from Suan Dusit University released results of the “Thai Political Index for August 2026” based on a nationwide sample of 2,107 respondents surveyed between 25-28 August, finding that
1. Overall confidence index declined.
The survey found that the public gave an average score of 3.63 out of 10 for the overall Thai political index in August, down from July. This reflects widespread concerns and declining political confidence in almost every aspect, except for the opposition’s performance and public participation.
2. Politicians and parties with prominent roles.
The survey revealed that the opposition gained increased confidence and popularity, with the public rating their overall performance as outstanding.
• Most prominent government politician: Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul earned the top position as the most outstanding government politician for the month.
• Most prominent opposition politician: Ms. Rakchanok Srinok received high marks as the opposition politician with a prominent role who won public support.
3. Government policies that received public approval.
Despite the overall political index decline, the government’s “Thai Help Thai Plus” policy remains the most favored program, as it helps ease living costs and has been well received by beneficiaries.
4. Issues of special public concern.
The public expressed that the issues they want the government to urgently address and closely monitor are:
• Drug suppression and cracking down on influential figures.
• Economic hardship and ongoing efforts to alleviate the cost of living burdens.
