The Deputy Spokesperson led a media delegation to Songkhla to experience the charm of community-based tourism, visiting Wat Phra Non, Wat Laem Pho, and Ko Yo woven fabrics. On 30 Aug 2026 in Songkhla Province, Ms. Ploy Thale Laksamisangchan and Lt. Col. Phatdarasmit Thongsaluaykorn, Deputy Spokespersons of the Prime Minister's Office, led a media delegation from the Government House in an activity. “Mobile Media Tour” Ahead of the official Cabinet meeting held outside Bangkok, they visited and promoted key tourist sites in the province at Wat Laem Pho, Ko Yo Subdistrict, Mueang Songkhla District, before heading to the Ko Yo woven fabric learning center at Wat Khok Phiao to observe and learn the weaving wisdom using the "kick loom," a cultural heritage and key community identity. They also visited the Thaksin Studies Institute to explore exhibitions on history, local life, and wisdom. Afterwards, they went to Laem San On and Samila Beach to study the development of public spaces and tourist sites. Ms. Ploy Thale expressed gratitude to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) for providing a real experiential tour, noting that many Thai and foreign tourists visit Songkhla.
Lt. Col. Phatdarasmit said Songkhla is a multi-faceted tourist city with natural beauty, community culture, and lifestyle. It promotes experiential learning of community culture, which she hopes everyone will take interest in as it helps stimulate the grassroots economy.
In the afternoon, the media delegation followed up on the progress of tourism and service upgrades in Songkhla and the Southern provinces at the Thaksin Studies Institute, viewing exhibitions on history, local life, and wisdom. They then visited Laem San On and Samila Beach to study the development of public spaces and tourist attractions, including the Naga serpent water fountain sculpture, Songkhla Lake viewpoints, and the golden mermaid statue, a symbol of the city.
