Akkharadej stated that it is correct for the Prime Minister not to respond to the senatorial collusion issue, as it falls within the Election Commission's authority. He questioned why the People's Party did not see a problem when they voted to support Anutin as Prime Minister but now use the issue politically after losing the election to discredit the government.
On 30 August 2026, Akkharadej Wongpitakroj, Member of Parliament for Ratchaburi from the Bhumjaithai Party, addressed reporters regarding the Prime Minister's silence on the senatorial collusion case. He said this was appropriate because the matter falls under the Election Commission's authority and is not something the executive branch should interfere with or intervene in.
Akkharadej said that looking at the situation honestly, the issue can only be seen as a political game, since the senatorial collusion case arose long ago, before the initial vote to appoint Anutin Charnvirakul as Prime Minister. At that time, the People's Party did not raise this as a political issue.
“But after losing the election, they brought this up as a political issue. I see it as a political tactic aimed at undermining the credibility of the current government,” Akkharadej said.
He added that he wants to remind the People's Party that the senatorial collusion case is the Election Commission’s responsibility. No-confidence debates should focus on government administration and performance, not on pressing the Prime Minister to comment on matters handled by independent agencies.
“If the Prime Minister were to respond or comment on matters under the Election Commission’s authority, it could be seen as interfering with the judicial process. Politicians should not pressure the Prime Minister on issues unrelated to government administration and duties,” Akkharadej said.
Akkharadej also questioned why the People's Party did not raise or question this issue earlier, when they had voted to support Anutin Charnvirakul as Prime Minister for the first time, but now use the senatorial collusion case to attack the government after their election loss in February 2026.
“If you ask why this issue is only raised now, even though it existed before, I think it cannot be separated from being a political issue aimed at discrediting the current government,” Akkharadej said.
