The Prime Minister said he has no messages for the People’s Party and dismissed their joining iLaw to pressure the Election Commission over the Senate vote-rigging case. He emphasized that as long as the law is not broken, it is acceptable. Laughing at suspicions about the 400 billion baht loan, he reaffirmed its transparency and assured it will be properly used so there will be no further doubts.
On 30 Aug 2026, Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Chanvirakul spoke about his parliamentary duties, saying that tomorrow (31 Aug 2026) he will present the loan decree authorizing the Ministry of Finance to borrow 400 billion baht to the Senate. He will present it thoroughly, noting it has already passed the House of Representatives and all legal steps have been followed. After his presentation, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Akenati Nitithanprapas will answer questions. Meanwhile, the cabinet will visit Songkhla Province for inspections, meeting local residents and engaging with business, agricultural, and industrial sectors in the southern region.
When asked about the many suspicions surrounding the loan, the Prime Minister laughed and said, “Once it is properly used, there will be no need for doubts. It is transparent and straightforward. There is a screening committee composed entirely of permanent civil servants led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, showing the government’s intention to keep it free from political influence.”
Asked if he had any messages for the opposition, the Prime Minister immediately replied that he did not. Regarding today’s activity by iLaw and the People’s Party holding a symbolic exercise event at the Election Commission office to protest the Senate vote-rigging case, he said that as long as they act within the law, there is no problem. Just don’t break the law.
When asked if he was worried about their planned large rally on 13 September, the Prime Minister reiterated his earlier statement: “Just don’t break the law.”
The Prime Minister also emphasized that if the loan decree passes the Senate, the government will proceed to consider the 2027 fiscal year budget bill for its second and third readings. During this parliamentary session, he has instructed cabinet members about their duties in parliament.
“I have instructed the ministers — contrary to rumors that they disrespect parliament, which is untrue — my cabinet is ready to answer questions. We have assigned specific ministers to respond on behalf of the government; if one is unavailable, another will step in, ensuring that there is always someone to listen and respond to questions in both houses,” he said.
