No surprise as Athikarn, son-in-law of Rang Thuraphon, wins Udonthani Constituency 3 by-election by a landslide. Prime Minister Anutin and Somsak flew to the area to announce the victory and posted thanks to Udonthani residents for continuing to grant an MP to the Bhumjaithai Party.
On 30 Aug 2026 in Udonthani province, reporters reported that after the closure of the Udonthani Constituency 3 by-election, results from 240 polling stations began to be reported online to the newsroom. The latest unofficial count at 19:05 showed 100% of votes counted.
In first place, Athikarn Kaokhruasi, candidate number 2 from the Bhumjaithai Party, received the highest vote total of 37,961 votes.
Second place went to Khajit Chainikom, candidate number 1 from the New Democracy Party, who received 13,017 votes.
Third place was Kamphan Chanthachon, candidate number 3 from the Pheu Phang Muang Party, with 4,633 votes.
Reporters added that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, together with Deputy Prime Minister Somsak Thongsri and their team, arrived at the Bhumjaithai Party coordination center at 18:30 to congratulate Athikarn. They were warmly welcomed by many local residents. The Prime Minister declared victory, raised Athikarn's hand, and thanked the people of Udonthani Constituency 3 for trusting Bhumjaithai Party.
Athikarn Kaokhruasi, the incoming MP, briefly said it is the highest honor of his life to be entrusted to continue the work of MP Rang Thuraphon, his father-in-law, and thanked all residents of Constituency 3 for their support that led to this day.
Later at 20:22, Anutin posted on Facebook with a blue background image saying, "I humbly thank the people of Udonthani for continuing to grant an MP to the Bhumjaithai Party." He later posted another message saying, "The people's decision is clearer than all polls and analyses from all parties."
