The Prime Minister urges the media to stop repetitive questions regarding the local exam corruption case, saying the answer remains the same no matter how many times it is asked. He stresses that everything is conducted according to the law without exceptions, with 5,900 candidates disqualified. He confirms that those involved in wrongdoing will be fully prosecuted.
On 31 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Anutin Chanvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, spoke after presenting the emergency decree authorizing the Ministry of Finance to borrow 400 billion baht to the Senate. He noted that today is the final day for disqualifying over 5,900 candidates and said he understands the Department of Local Administration is already handling this matter under existing rules and regulations.
Regarding the idea of dissolving the Local Administrative Committee, Anutin asked reporters, “Is it even possible to dissolve it?” When asked if it is part of the Local Administration Act, he reiterated that everything follows the law. No matter how often asked, the answer must be based on legal principles, not what is pleasing, because work cannot be done based solely on personal preference.
On the involvement of police and the Department of Special Investigation officers, the Prime Minister stated that the National Anti-Corruption Commission is the main agency handling the case. It has sought cooperation from all parties, including police, DSI, and the Anti-Money Laundering Office, which track financial flows, as well as agencies monitoring misconduct among civil servants. All procedures have been thoroughly carried out.
Anutin further asked the media kindly to accept the answers given and report fully so there is no need for repeated questioning, as the responses remain the same. He emphasized that all actions comply with the law. Those implicated or involved in wrongdoing will face full legal prosecution without exception, and no influence will divert the course of justice. He gave firm assurance on this matter.
