The Election Commission (EC) reminds citizens who did not vote in the Udon Thani Constituency 3 by-election on 30 August to submit their reasons for absence from today until 6 September. Failure to report may lead to several rights restrictions.
On 31 August 2026, the Election Commission Office announced information regarding reporting reasons for not voting in the by-election for the Udon Thani 3rd Constituency parliamentary seat, covering Phen District, Sang Khom District, and part of Mueang Udon Thani District (Ban Khao subdistrict), for those unable to vote on Sunday, 30 August 2026.
Voters can report reasons for not voting between 31 August and 6 September 2026 using form S.Th./Ph.Th. 1/8 or a written letter that must at least specify their ID card number and registered address clearly, along with the reason they could not vote. Reports can be submitted through the following channels:
If a voter neither votes nor reports a valid reason for absence, or if the reason is deemed unjustifiable, the following rights will be restricted:
1. Filing complaints against the MP election results.
2. Running for election as MP, local council member or local executive, or senator.
3. Running for village headman or village chief positions under local administrative law.
4. Holding political civil service positions as regulated by laws governing political officials and parliamentary political officers.
5. Holding positions such as deputy local executive, secretary or assistant secretary to local executives, chairman or advisor to local executives, or membership in advisory committees under local administrative organization laws.
The restriction period lasts for two years from the date of the election the voter did not attend. If the voter fails to vote again in the next election, a new two-year restriction period begins. Any remaining previous restriction period is terminated.
