At 16:50 on 31 Aug 2026 at Songkhla Provincial Hall, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul chaired a meeting to hear opinions on solving issues in the southern border provinces. Attending were related ministers including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Puangketkaew, Labour Minister Julphun Amornwiwat, Minister attached to the Ministry of Interior Jesad Thaiyaset, Deputy Minister of Interior Worasit Liangprasert, Prime Minister's Advisory Chairman Wan Muhamad Nor Matha, National Security Council Secretary-General, Army Chief of Staff General Chaipruk Duangprapat, Fourth Army Area Commander Lieutenant General Norathip Poynork, security agencies, and local administration officials.
Representatives from educational institutions, Buddhist and Islamic religious leaders, private sector, and civil society from the three southern border provinces participated to reflect on multidimensional issues in the area. The format was a roundtable discussion, with each party sharing problems by province covering security, economic, social, and drug issues. The objective was to collect opinions to guide agencies in promptly taking action to restore peace in the region.
