Sihasak Reveals Prime Ministers Directive on Southern Border Issue: Safety of Life and Property Comes First

Sihasak revealed that Anutin emphasized solving the southern border problem with safety as the top priority. He ordered intelligence integration under the Thailand Team framework, viewing mass work as important, alongside cooperation with Malaysia to track perpetrators and hold peace talks.

1 Sep 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Sihasak Puangkaew, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, spoke about the approach to resolving the southern border issue, stating that the Prime Minister assigned him to chair a security workshop. They discussed the current situation and events on 22-23 August, agreeing on the need to seek ways to strengthen and intensify efforts to resolve the southern situation in line with current circumstances.

Regarding immediate matters, the Prime Minister emphasized safety of life and property, as the security and confidence of the public and private sectors are extremely important. He stressed integrated work in the area, especially in intelligence, requiring all agencies to operate as the Thailand Team, with accuracy and timeliness.

Another issue discussed was the need to place greater importance on mass work—to enhance understanding, reach the people, and create opportunities for local residents. The final aspect concerned cooperation with Malaysia on border security and tracking those responsible for unrest, as well as advancing the southern peace dialogue process.
