On 1 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Chaiyachonok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, responded to People's Party MP Rakchanok Srinok's complaint with evidence submitted to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) accusing him and ministry executives of specification locking in the TH-AI PASSPORT project. He said he is aware of the matter but is not worried because he has done nothing illegal. He is ready to participate in any process to clarify facts without any concerns.
Asked about his confidence in responding to the NACC's inquiries, Chaiyachonok said they will provide all facts truthfully. Since they have done nothing wrong, there is nothing to worry about.
Regarding Rakchanok's challenge for the ministry secretary-general to sue if desired, Chaiyachonok said he was not aware of this and asked reporters why the secretary-general should sue when he has performed his duties in parliamentary committees. He emphasized that the government side acts within the law and sees no reason for lawsuits. Despite some disrespectful communication and threats, he considers this personal conduct. He believes neither the secretary-general nor officials under his supervision would pursue lawsuits over such matters, though feelings might be hurt or cooperation reduced. He reiterated that all actions comply with legal frameworks.
When asked about frequent political attacks using the TH-AI PASSPORT issue, Chaiyachonok said perspectives differ. Some may see it as harsh or as a target, but he prefers to turn crisis into opportunity. Increased attention will help the public become aware of and understand the project better. He hopes this encourages people to test and try the project, regardless of intent, believing everyone will ultimately benefit.
Regarding the first day of usage, Chaiyachonok said he did not register because he wants to reserve the professional version's access for those who truly need it and face real constraints. Therefore, he chose not to register.
On user feedback, Chaiyachonok said widespread social discussion after launch involved comparisons claiming free services are better than TH-AI PASSPORT. Upon investigation, this is untrue. Free services process answers differently and have been used longer, adapting to user behavior. TH-AI PASSPORT has not yet transferred previous user data, so calculations are more general. This does not mean it is inferior; in fact, it is better than free services because free versions have limitations like token quotas and fewer questions allowed. Thus, it is impossible for TH-AI PASSPORT to be worse than free offerings.
