“Abhisit” Welcomes “Poon Treerat,” Former Deputy Secretary-General of Thai Sang Thai Party, Joining Democrat Party Membership

“Abhisit and Korn” welcome “Poon Treerat,” former Deputy Secretary-General of the Thai Sang Thai Party, as he joins the Democrat Party membership, assigning him a role to strengthen energy and economic policies, highlighting the transition to clean energy for the people.

On 2 September 2026, reporters reported that on 1 September at the Democrat Party headquarters, Mr. Treerat Sirichantaropas, CEO of New Energy Plus Solutions Co., Ltd. (NEPS), former advisor to the Minister of Commerce, and former Deputy Secretary-General of the Thai Sang Thai Party, officially applied to join the Democrat Party. Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, party leader, and Mr. Korn Chatikavanij, deputy party leader, welcomed him.

Mr. Abhisit congratulated Mr. Treerat on joining the team, noting that his experience in the clean energy business, managing large organizations, and understanding public policy will greatly benefit the Democrat Party’s future energy and economic proposals.

Mr. Treerat said his decision to join the Democrat Party came at a crucial time as Thailand faces economic challenges and the transition to clean energy, requiring vision, correct policies, and efficient management.

“Thailand is at a pivotal point in its development, especially regarding clean energy, which will directly affect long-term economic competitiveness. Having worked in business, government, and politics, I want to bring my experience and knowledge to collaborate with the Democrat Party in monitoring the recently approved 200 billion baht loan budget and promoting energy transition policies that maximize public benefit,” said Mr. Treerat.

Mr. Treerat also explained his reason for choosing the Democrat Party, stating he believes in the party’s ideology and political approach, which uphold honesty, transparency, and genuine public participation as a political institution.

“The Democrat Party has a long history and consistently stands on principles. It is a party of the people, not owned by any individual or power group. This quality is much needed in Thai politics today. That is why I decided to become part of the party, ready to contribute my experience in management, economic development, and clean energy to strengthen the party and the country,” he added.

Mr. Treerat’s joining the Democrat Party reinforces the party’s team in economic and energy sectors with direct experience from the clean energy business and public policy work, reflecting the party’s commitment to driving a new economic approach alongside a clean energy transition that benefits the people and the country in the long term.
