The government is expediting a 40 million baht budget injection to assist private schools in the southern border provinces before the close of fiscal year 2026, to support students and over 30,000 people affected by the situation.
On 2 September 2026, Second Lieutenant Phatdarasmit Thongsaluaykon, Deputy Spokesperson of the Office of the Prime Minister, announced that the government, through the Ministry of Education, is accelerating aid to private schools in the southern border provinces by transferring approximately 40 million baht in support funds before the end of fiscal year 2026, to care for more than 30,000 students and affected individuals in the area.
Second Lieutenant Phatdarasmit stated that this measure accelerates financial support to private schools in the area deemed necessary, to ease the burden of educational management and ensure students can continue their studies uninterrupted. At the same time, it helps enhance liquidity and operational stability for schools in the southern border provinces, aiming to relieve institutional burdens and maintain continuity in educational delivery.
Additionally, regarding welfare for education personnel, the government has received proposals to expand rights for medical expense reimbursements and access to healthcare facilities for private school staff to cover a wider group. This aims to strengthen health insurance, reduce expenses, and boost morale among those serving in education roles. The government will consider these proposals according to proper procedures.
Second Lieutenant Phatdarasmit emphasized that the assistance measures for private schools in the southern border aim to support learners and personnel directly affected by the specific local situation. Simultaneously, efforts continue to improve private school teacher welfare overall, to create stability and quality in the nation’s private education system.
