At 09:20 on 2 September 2026 at Government House, Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruttaphon Naowarat, Minister of Justice, commented on the progress regarding Somchat Techathaworncharoen, Phuket MP from the Prachachon Party. Evidence during the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) inquiry showed Somchat was involved as a director holding shares in a private company owning real estate and condominium units in Phuket jointly with foreigners. The DSI initially issued a summons, but delivery failed. On 31 August, a second summons was issued and confirmed delivered by the postal service. The DSI also arranged for local police stations to assist in delivering documents. Somchat has been scheduled to meet with the DSI on 7 September. Whether he will appear is unknown, but it is confirmed he received the summons.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruttaphon also addressed the Forex case linked to Pawut Pongwitthayaphanu, party-list MP from Prachachon, saying that the DSI is currently investigating. He said he is unaware if the case file is ready to be submitted to prosecutors, as no report on completion has been received.
When asked if there is a timeline for submitting the case to prosecutors, Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruttaphon said that based on discussions with investigators, the case file should be submitted no later than September, though he does not know the exact date.
Asked whether Pawut's explanations have provided useful information for the case, Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruttaphon said he does not know the details, as investigators are still gathering evidence. When pressed about whether additional links have been found during the investigation, he reiterated that he is not aware of such details in the case file.
