The Central Administrative Court postponed reading the Supreme Administrative Court's order in the case of Dr. Sornan, chairman of the NBTC, after he failed to appear in court and requested the court to withhold public disclosure of the order.
On 2 Aug 2026 GMT+7 at 10:30 a.m., the Central Administrative Court postponed reading the Supreme Administrative Court's order in the case where Dr. Sornan Boonbaichayapruk, chairman of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), appealed the Central Administrative Court's rejection of his petition. He sued the NBTC selection committee seeking to revoke their decision No. 1/2569 dated 21 Jul 2026, which ruled that Dr. Sornan was disqualified and barred from serving as NBTC chairman from the start. Dr. Sornan requested the court to annul that decision with retroactive effect, as if the decision had never existed.
The reason for postponing the order reading today was that the plaintiff, Dr. Sornan, did not attend court nor authorized anyone to receive the order on his behalf. Meanwhile, the defendant, the NBTC selection committee, sent a representative to attend. The Supreme Administrative Court will proceed to notify Dr. Sornan, as the plaintiff, of the order in due course.
However, it was reported that Dr. Sornan submitted a petition asking the court to withhold public disclosure of any orders or judgments related to this case. On the day of the order reading, several media representatives were present to monitor and report on the proceedings.
