On 2 September 2026 GMT+7, the Constitutional Court reviewed the case petitioned by the Election Commission to revoke the election rights of Mr. Kongkiat Ketsombat, former MP candidate for Nakhon Si Thammarat District 7 from the Kla Tham Party. Mr. Kongkiat knowingly ran for election despite being disqualified and concealed the fact that he had a final conviction for an offense involving dishonesty, specifically theft under Section 335, paragraph one (1) of the Criminal Code.
The Constitutional Court found that the case met the criteria and conditions under Section 54 of the 2018 Election Act for Members of the House of Representatives and Section 7(13) of the 2018 Constitutional Court Procedure Act. The Court unanimously decided to accept the petition for consideration and ordered Mr. Kongkiat to submit a written explanation addressing the allegations within 15 days from the date he receives the petition copy, in accordance with Section 54 of the Constitutional Court Procedure Act, 2018.
