Government Launches Second Sale of Aomsplus Bonds Worth 4 Billion Baht with Interest Up to 2.80% per Year Starting 4 Sept

The government has launched the second issuance of “Aomsplus Bonds” totaling 4 billion baht starting 4 September, offering the public additional savings options with interest rates up to 2.80% per year.

On 3 September 2026, Ms. Lalida Pertwiwatthana, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office, announced that the government, through the Ministry of Finance, is providing the public with more opportunities to save via government bonds. The Public Debt Management Office (PDMO) is preparing to sell the second issuance of Aomsplus Bonds for fiscal year 2026, totaling 4 billion baht starting 4 September 2026. The sales are split equally between the PDMO Wallet on the Paotang app with 2 billion baht and the Bond Connect Platform with another 2 billion baht.

Both channels offer bonds with the same fixed interest rates: 1.80% per year for the 3-year term and 2.80% per year for the 10-year term. However, buyers should verify that the two channels differ in sales periods, minimum investment amounts, buyer eligibility, and allocation methods before purchasing.

For those wishing to start saving with smaller amounts, purchases can be made via the PDMO Wallet on the Paotang app starting from 100 baht and in increments of 100 baht. Sales run from 08:30 on 4 September until 15:00 on 15 September 2026 or until the 2 billion baht limit is reached. Buyers must be Thai nationals aged 15 or older; those under 20 require parental consent per specified procedures. Each individual can buy up to 50 million baht, with a maximum of 1 million baht per transaction, and multiple purchases are allowed.

A key point for buying via the PDMO Wallet is that allocation is on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested buyers should register and verify their identity on the Paotang app and ensure sufficient wallet funds before sales open. Funds can be added via mobile banking, by linking a Krungthai Bank account, or using a Wallet ID to top up at Krungthai Bank counters.

Those with securities trading accounts can reserve bonds through the Bond Connect Platform from 7 to 9 September 2026, between 08:30 on 7 September and 15:00 on 9 September, via 24 participating commercial banks and securities companies or through the Streaming app. The minimum purchase is 1,000 baht with increments of 1,000 baht and no maximum purchase limit.

Allocation via Bond Connect differs from the PDMO Wallet by using the Small Lot First method, distributing in rounds of 1,000 baht each. Therefore, it is not necessary to rush to book immediately upon opening, as booking order within the period does not affect allocation priority. If the final round’s funds are insufficient, allocations will be randomly assigned until fully allocated. Buyers will be informed of results on 10 September 2026 and receive refunds for unallocated amounts the same day.

Ms. Lalida stated that this second sale increases public access to government savings. The first issuance attracted 22,703 retail investors with total subscriptions of 16.511 billion baht, about eight times the offered amount, reflecting strong public interest in government bond savings options.

“The government wishes to emphasize that the two channels have different allocation methods. The PDMO Wallet uses a first-come, first-served approach starting at 100 baht, while Bond Connect starts at 1,000 baht and uses Small Lot First, so there is no need to compete for early booking. People can choose the channel that suits them or use both if eligible,” Ms. Lalida said.

The Deputy Spokesperson added that those wishing to buy via Bond Connect but without a securities trading account should open one in advance, as processing may take 3–5 business days. Since the PDMO Wallet and Bond Connect funds are separate, individuals can purchase through one or both channels.

Aomsplus Bonds are dematerialized bonds without physical certificates or passbooks. Investors should verify their holdings through designated channels and carefully review the bond terms, liquidity, and suitability to their financial plans before investing.
