On 3 September 2026 at the NBTC office, the 25/2569 NBTC board meeting was canceled for the eighth time after officials announced that Clinical Professor Dr. Sorn Boonbaichaiyapruck, NBTC Chairman, had other commitments and requested to postpone the meeting to 9 September. This prompted three NBTC commissioners—Air Marshal Dr. Thanaphan Raicharoen, Professor Emeritus Pirongrong Ramasoot, and Associate Professor Dr. Suphach Supachalasai—to submit a letter to the Acting Deputy Secretary-General of the NBTC, requesting an urgent meeting of the remaining six commissioners on 4 September at 9:30 a.m. immediately.
Air Marshal Dr. Thanaphan and Professor Emeritus Pirongrong both stated that the Supreme Administrative Court's order clearly indicated that Dr. Sorn was no longer in position and could not perform his duties, according to the selection committee's ruling. Furthermore, the Prime Minister had already submitted a royal command for his removal. Therefore, the NBTC office must convene the remaining six commissioners to allow the organization to proceed, rather than continuing to operate under someone lacking legitimacy and causing work to stall.
Meanwhile, Professor Emeritus Pirongrong warned that leaving the board inactive would severely impact the digital TV roadmap. If foreign platforms take over all communications, the country would lose its information sovereignty.
Associate Professor Dr. Suphach emphasized that holding the meeting is not about seeking permission but the office’s responsibility to facilitate the board’s work. Acting Deputy Secretary-General Sombat Leelapatt accepted the letter and said he would consider the matter and proceed accordingly.
