Clash Outside Thonglor Police Station: Nattawut Shoves Somchai, Accusing Him of Bias, Leading to Bicycle Fall Somchai Files Counter-Complaint for False Report and Harassment, Denies Embezzlement

A heated confrontation occurred outside Thonglor Police Station where Nattawut aggressively approached, shoved, and pointed at Somchai, accusing him of being biased, causing Somchai to fall off his bicycle. Somchai filed a counter-complaint alleging false reporting and harassment, denying embezzlement claims and affirming that all funds remain intact as donated.

At 12:50 on 4 Sep 2026 GMT+7, outside Thonglor Police Station, Somchai Srisutthiyakorn, former Election Commissioner, arrived at a media-scheduled 13:00 appointment to file a complaint against Nattawut Wongniam. Nattawut was already waiting for Somchai at the station.

As Somchai cycled up to the police station entrance, Nattawut confronted him, saying, “Where are you going? Where are you going?” He grabbed Somchai’s arm and then shoved him, causing Somchai and his bicycle to fall in front of media and police officers.

Somchai shouted, “This is assault.” Nattawut yelled back, “Assault? I’m ready to face you. Today, I’m here with an arrest warrant for you. I’ve been waiting.” He then pointed at reporters, saying, “Who are you? Be neutral.” He claimed he had done nothing wrong. As Somchai said he would report the incident to police, Nattawut replied, “Go ahead and report, you queer.”

Police at Thonglor Station tried to separate Nattawut from Somchai, but Nattawut resisted and tried to approach Somchai again, forcibly removing Somchai’s hat. Police warned that non-compliance would lead to handcuffing, after which Nattawut complied. Somchai sustained a scraped wound on his right knee.

Somchai filed a counter-complaint against Nattawut for making false reports and harassment, denying embezzlement of fund money, affirming that all donations remain intact, and preparing a civil lawsuit seeking 50 million baht in damages, citing his status as head of a multi-billion-baht business empire.

Somchai, an academic and former Election Commissioner, stated before filing a complaint that false accusations were made harming a group’s reputation and constituting serious public defamation. The accuser claimed Somchai misappropriated donations intended for legal aid, alleging he used funds for illicit purposes and a fake wedding. Somchai and his lawyer intend to prosecute for “making false reports to harass others criminally.” He asserted all allegations are untrue and all fund donations remain fully intact.

Lawyer Noraset Nanongtoom said the fund was transparently established, with an official press conference at Thammasat University. Withdrawals require multiple signatures, and since inception, no money has been withdrawn from the fund’s account.

Somchai presented a certificate of deposit from Bangkok Bank, Thammasat Rangsit branch, confirming the first fund account contains over 1,805,770.40 baht intact, with no withdrawals. The bank statement obtained that morning was certified by academic Parinya Thewanaritkul of Thammasat University.

Another organizational account holds about 400,000 baht. Therefore, allegations that fund money was used for illicit purposes are completely false, assuring donors that their contributions remain dedicated to legal aid as intended.

Somchai also showed photos of a wedding nine years ago, confirming it was a royal-endorsed marriage, not a sham. He denied claims that, despite already being married, he deceived another woman into marriage 4–5 years ago. He clarified the wedding occurred nine years ago, officiated by Privy Council President General Surayud Chulanont, confirming it was a legitimate royal marriage, contrary to false allegations.

When asked about the former lawyer’s motives for accusing Somchai, Somchai suggested it stemmed from the opposing legal team’s poor research and failure to verify facts easily accessible, resulting in false accusations clearly violating the law.

Somchai concluded that besides the criminal case for false reporting, he has scheduled a meeting with another legal team this Sunday to prepare a civil suit seeking appropriate damages of 50 million baht from the accuser, who claims to own a multi-billion-baht business empire.

Thonglor police investigators reported they are currently questioning Nattawut Wongniam, who initially denied the allegations. Further questioning and evidence gathering remain ongoing before proceeding.
