The “Team Sudsoi Energy” submitted evidence to the Trade Competition Commission to prosecute five more fuel depots for hoarding, speculative profiteering, delaying sales, and refusing to sell during the recent crisis.
On 4 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Thitiphat Chotidechachainan, Secretary to the Minister of Energy and Chair of the “Team Sudsoi Energy,” delegated by Energy Minister Mr. Aeknath Promphan, submitted evidence to the Trade Competition Commission (TCC) to prosecute five additional fuel depots. They were found to have irregular fuel receipt and distribution activities during Feb–Mar 2026. Police Lieutenant General Phittaya Sirirak, a TCC commissioner, accepted the documents.
Ms. Thitiphat revealed that after nationwide inspections and summoning 33 operators for information, they found that in early March, several depots received fuel but refused to distribute it, resulting in abnormally high stockpiles averaging 1.67 million liters per depot. This behavior amounted to delaying sales and refusal to sell, causing fuel shortages in multiple areas. They have filed complaints with the TCC and Department of Internal Trade under the Trade Competition Act B.E. 2560 (2017) and Consumer Protection Act B.E. 2542 (1999).
Currently, Team Sudsoi has filed legal actions against 21 traders and plans to enhance management systems by creating hoarding alert mechanisms, monitoring transport invoices along delivery routes, and coordinating with provincial mechanisms to prevent repeated speculative profiteering.
“We must establish legal enforcement standards to prevent hoarding that harms the public again. The Ministry of Energy is committed to pursuing full legal action under the Sudsoi policy to build a transparent and fair system,” Ms. Thitiphat said.
