Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul gave an interview in Ratchaburi province regarding the postponement of inviting the Cabinet to a dinner at his private residence on 6 September, and whether the rescheduling would be close to the upcoming no-confidence debate. He said he must attend the paying of respects to the late King Harald V of Norway, who passed away, on behalf of the Thai government. Therefore, it is necessary to postpone the dinner because he will depart on 7 September.
When asked if the dinner would be rescheduled for the following week, the Prime Minister said, “No date has been set yet.” When further asked if given the current situation it might no longer be necessary to have the dinner to strengthen relations, the Prime Minister replied, “It’s unrelated. The coalition Cabinet members have not had a chance to eat together in a relaxed atmosphere to talk freely since taking office six months ago. That was the purpose of scheduling the dinner on 6 September, but this important duty requires postponement.”
