5 September 2026 GMT+7 Nitisak Meekhuad a lawyer serving as a Human Rights Committee member of the Lawyers Council under Royal Patronage, spoke about the incident involving Nattawut Wongniam a former prosecutor and ex-lawyer, who pushed Somchai Srisutthiyakorn, a former member of the Election Commission, in front of Thonglor Police Station, while also using inappropriate language in front of media and police officers.
Nitisak revealed that the incident constituted an unacceptable use of violence by someone claiming to be a legal professional at a government office like Thonglor Police Station. It reflected immaturity and was unfit as a social example, damaging the public image of lawyers. Especially when a female reporter tried to intervene, Nattawut verbally abused and intimidated her, accusing her of bias. This is a reprehensible behavior deserving strong condemnation, and society must no longer give such individuals any standing.
"Importantly, I criticize the Thonglor police officers at the scene who failed to intervene, allowing Nattawut to continue offending for a long time and not arresting the offender. This was an on-the-spot offense where immediate arrest was possible, but their laxity amounts to dereliction of duty under the law."
