Chaiyanat urges the Ministry of Interior to investigate Israeli nationals' requests to change citizenship and the establishment of a "Chabad" center in central Bangkok amid concerns over grey capital. He insists on verifying the origin of funds, construction permits, and the legality of restricting access to outsiders, as well as usage rights.
On 5 September 2026, Chaiyanat Dechadecho, a party-list MP from the Democrat Party, spoke about activities conducted by the Jewish community and the establishment of religious sites in Bangkok and other major tourist areas. He said he had received complaints about impacts on residents in some locations and believed that government agencies should thoroughly investigate the facts and legal compliance.
Chaiyanat expressed concerns about activities taking place in restricted sites inaccessible to outsiders, as well as doubts regarding tax payments, business operations, and expansion into various parts of the country resembling one-dollar tours. He called on authorities to verify whether all operations comply with the law.
Furthermore, Chaiyanat mentioned reports of a Jewish cemetery in Chachoengsao province and the establishment of a Jewish community site, or “Chabad,” near Sukhumvit Soi in Bangkok. He said these matters require investigation to ensure clarity and transparency since they involve building and land use, community activities, and adherence to Thai law.
Chaiyanat therefore urged the Ministry of Interior to thoroughly examine all related information, including cases of individuals changing nationality from Israeli to Thai, as well as whether the applicants for construction or establishment of these buildings have complied with the law and procedures. He questioned whether designating these places as closed areas barring outsiders is legally permissible under Thai law.
"I want the Ministry of Interior to investigate whether those involved in requesting construction permits are acting lawfully, and also the source of funds used for construction—whether the money is legally sourced or connected to grey capital. These matters must be clearly verified," he said.
