The Deputy Minister of Agriculture is accelerating water system development and supporting the full potential use of large-scale farm machinery to raise the standard of farmers in Mae Chan.
On 5 September 2026, Ms. Piyarat Tiyapairat, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, conducted an official inspection at Nong Manora, Ban Pasakluang, Chan Chawa Tai Subdistrict, Mae Chan District, Chiang Rai. She listened to proposals from local administrative organizations and farmers, focusing on developing water management systems, flood prevention, increasing agricultural water sources, and promoting the efficient use of machinery by large-scale farm groups.
Ms. Piyarat revealed that the Ministry of Agriculture will expedite key water resource projects in Mae Chan District, including upgrading the Kluay Kham weir, the main water delivery systems in Chan Chawa and Chan Chawa Tai Subdistricts, dredging aquatic weeds in Nong Wat Pa Mak No pond, and implementing a solar-powered water distribution system at Ban Ton Yang. These efforts aim to increase irrigated farmland by about 500 rai. She also ordered fast-tracked surveys and designs for the Kluay Kham and Nong Pueng weirs to prepare systematic budget plans.
Additionally, the plan focuses on uplifting the Ban San Luang large-scale farm community enterprise group, which has 136 members managing 1,554 rai. Coordination is underway to upgrade electrical systems for rice milling machines and resolve land rights issues regarding storage facilities to fully enable product processing and add value. Relevant agencies have been assigned to monitor progress and provide knowledge on seed quality to create sustainable income for farmers.
