“Ice Cream” views “Sonthi’s” scheduled rally as a freedom of expression right and is preparing to discuss with opposition coalition parties the ministers to be subjected to a no-confidence debate.
On 6 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Parit Wacharasindhu, a party-list MP of the Prachachon Party, commented on Sonthi Limthongkul’s announcement to hold a rally tomorrow (7 Sep). He said he was speaking in general terms, not targeting anyone’s demands. He emphasized that freedom of expression and assembly are fundamental rights in a democracy that everyone must protect, regardless of agreement with the issues raised by various groups, as long as their proposals aim to solve problems within democratic frameworks.
When asked if iLaw would hold a rally on 13 Sep and whether all sides have platforms, and if Prachachon would hold its own event or join any others, Parit said the party has never rejected iLaw’s activities. The aims and proposals by iLaw and civil society regarding Senator corruption align with Prachachon’s views. They have also participated in public exercises at the Government Complex on Chaeng Watthana Road. As long as there is agreement, he considers these activities appropriate for both the public and Prachachon members to join.
He confirmed that the no-confidence debate will definitely include the issue of Senator vote-rigging.
Parit stated that Senator vote-rigging will be included in the no-confidence motion along with other undisclosed matters. Discussions with opposition coalition partners are ongoing to decide which ministers will be debated and to draft the motion, which is expected to take a few weeks.
“I want to preemptively say that no one should attempt to have parliamentary officials interpret that the issues of Senator corruption and local examination fraud cannot be included in the no-confidence debate.”
