On 6 September 2026, reporters at the parliament reported that from 7-9 September, a special session of the House of Representatives will consider the 2570 annual expenditure budget bill totaling 3.78 trillion baht in its second and third readings, following the special committee's review of 41 articles. The committee cut the budget by 11,162 million baht from the first reading, reallocating 10,891 million baht to agencies as proposed by the cabinet based on necessity, and 271 million baht to state agencies including the parliament, courts, constitutional independent organizations, and the prosecution. Part of the 11,162 million baht cut was allocated to increase the central reserve fund by 6,044 million baht, which will be used as contingency funds for emergencies or urgent needs such as maintaining public order, state security, disaster relief, and urgent state duties that cannot be adjusted within the agencies' regular budgets. The top five ministries facing the largest budget cuts are: 1. Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, receiving 14,375,820,000 baht down from 17,505,388,300 baht, a reduction of 3,129.5 million baht. Included in this is 3,000 million baht from the Pollution Control Department originally proposed to pay damages and interest per the Supreme Administrative Court ruling on the Klong Dan case, but the committee voted to remove this entirely. 2. Ministry of Defense, receiving 90,728,227,800 baht down from 91,957,182,500 baht, cut by 1,228 million baht. 3. Ministry of Interior, receiving 226,929,855,500 baht down from 227,842,668,000 baht, reduced by 912.8 million baht. 4.
