The Ministry of Interior has informed governors, district chiefs, and local administrative organizations nationwide to collaborate with all sectors in organizing activities to express the power of national unity and love on the occasion of Thai National Flag Day, 28 September 2026.
On 6 Sep 2026, Mr. Atthit Sampantarat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, revealed plans for activities on Thai National Flag Day 2026, set for 28 September 2026. The Ministry of Interior, coordinated by the Prime Minister's Office, campaigns to foster national pride and commemorate the royal benevolence of King Rama VI, who granted the tricolor flag as Thailand's national flag. He graciously enacted the Flag Act in 1917 and bestowed the Thai national flag featuring bands of colors with no head or tail, known as the "tricolor flag": red symbolizes the nation and the people's bloodline; white represents religion; and blue signifies the monarchy, officially granted on 28 September 1917, 109 years ago.
"To promote national pride on Thai National Flag Day 2026 and demonstrate the unified strength of all network partners, the Ministry of Interior has instructed all 76 provinces, 878 districts, and 7,842 local administrative organizations nationwide to display the Thai national flag at their premises. Government agencies, state enterprises, companies, shops, associations, foundations, the private sector, and the public are invited to adorn the Thai flag at offices and homes and ensure flags remain in good condition throughout September 2026," said Mr. Atthit.
Mr. Atthit also stated that on Monday, 28 September 2026, Thai National Flag Day, provincial governors, district chiefs, and local administrative leaders will lead civil servants, employees, and officials dressed in khaki uniforms in a flag salute ceremony in front of flagpoles at provincial halls, district offices, and local administrative offices at 08:00. The public is welcome to participate wearing formal attire, traditional, or local costumes to join the ceremony together.
