Pol.Pee chaired the Assembly of the Poor's meeting on land problem resolution, ordering expedited dispute settlement and issuance of land ownership documents to concretely ease public hardship in a meaningful way.
At 09:30 on 7 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Pol.Pee Suwannachawi, Deputy Minister of Interior, chaired the 1/2026 meeting of the Assembly of the Poor's Land Problem Resolution Committee under the Ministry of Interior's responsibility. Attending were Chaiwat Chuenkosum, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior and Head of Disaster and Urban Development Mission Group; Dr. Phanu Prawattana, advisor to the Deputy Minister; Weeraphon Kiatchaiphat, assistant secretary to the Deputy Minister; representatives from the Department of Lands; committee members and relevant agency representatives. The meeting took place at Commission Meeting Room CB 405, 4th floor, Parliament Building.
Pol.Pee stated that the government prioritizes resolving issues related to agricultural land and land ownership documents for citizens. Although these problems have persisted for a long time, if land possession is lawful, every citizen has the right to possess it and obtain ownership documents. The government and officials have no intention of obstructing people from using or developing land. However, if legal obstacles arise, the government and public will consult together to find the best solution, with the main goal being for citizens to live happily in the country.
"Regarding resolving hardship at the provincial level, for example, the issue in Phuket province was considered. The Department of Lands and relevant provincial agencies were instructed to coordinate promptly to reopen access routes for citizens after private parties blocked these paths. Although the court dismissed the private parties' claims, the routes remain closed. As for land issues in Nakhon Sawan province, Deputy Prime Minister Songsak Thongsri, who was assigned this task, will continue to consider operational plans and the need to present the matter to the Cabinet." Pol.Pee added further remarks.
At this meeting, participants discussed advancing solutions on several key issues, including reviewing proposals for additional operational areas to address problems raised by the Assembly of the Poor, such as the mangrove forest issues affecting the coastal community of Ban Ao Kung in Thalang District, Phuket province. They approved appointing nine provincial subcommittees to assist operations in nine provinces, aiming for more concrete and swift outcomes. They also assigned provinces, districts, and local administrative organizations to implement the guidelines alleviating distress among Assembly of the Poor members residing or cultivating land with disputes, exercising their authority during ongoing problem resolution.
Moreover, the meeting examined joint approaches concerning those affected by the 1936 Royal Decree designating restricted land zones in Pak Nam Pho, Phayuha Khiri, and Krok Phra districts of Nakhon Sawan province, which overlaps with villagers' agricultural land. Responsible agencies were invited to provide the latest situational data to aid in resolving obstacles. This meeting reflects the Ministry of Interior's determination to integrate cooperation across sectors to resolve land dispute issues and sustainably alleviate hardship for citizens in a tangible manner.
