At 10:15 a.m. on 8 September 2026, in committee room CB 406, 4th floor of the Parliament building, Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, presided over the Cabinet meeting in place of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, Minister of Interior, who was representing the King at the royal funeral of King Harald V of Norway.
The Cabinet meeting that day was relocated to the Parliament building because it coincided with a session of the House of Representatives to consider the draft Appropriation Act for fiscal year 2570 during its second and third readings, marking the second day of deliberations.
Early in the meeting, Phiphat explained that since the Prime Minister was attending the Norwegian king's royal funeral as the King's representative, he was assigned to chair the Cabinet meeting. The Prime Minister had ordered the meeting to be held at the Parliament building to ensure ministers were present to clarify any questions MPs might have during consideration of the 2570 budget bill.
