Anutin affirms he understands proper respect for hierarchy better than others, addressing allegations of misusing the institution. He confirms all actions were conducted according to procedures after attending a Privy Council meeting.
On 8 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul gave an interview on the program "Answer the Question" broadcast on Thai PBS on the evening of 7 Sep 2026 GMT+7.
At one point, he explained and responded to doubts about accusations that he referenced the institution or higher authorities in implementing government policies, stating, “Please tell me where exactly I have misused or referenced improperly.”
Anutin said that as Prime Minister, his primary duty in all government policies is to serve His Majesty the King and support projects beneficial to the people. “I serve in my official capacity. Where have I misused or referenced? I follow all procedures; it would be strange not to serve.”
When asked whether the Prime Minister might not speak directly but is often seen attending events with the Royal Secretary or meeting with the Privy Council?
Anutin replied that everything follows official schedules. He has never used the higher authorities or the institution to gain political advantage or in government administration. All actions proceed transparently and within the executive branch's authority and are subject to scrutiny.
“Would I just attend a meeting with the Privy Council without an official invitation? Would I accompany the Royal Secretary without being scheduled as part of the delegation?”
The Prime Minister emphasized that he would never call to request to join events hoping to create images showing closeness to the royal court.
Anutin also said that his position as Prime Minister comes from the people's vote according to democratic principles. The Bhumjaithai Party secured the highest number of MPs last time with majority support in the House of Representatives, and nowhere has he misused or leveraged the institution's prestige. “Why wouldn't I know what is appropriate and what is not? I must know even more than others.” The Prime Minister said.
